THE Gente Beauty line of skin care products — touted by Hailey Bieber — has one item that promises to help solve the unsightly and uncomfortable struggle of bloating from the surface.

But though it may be an increasing favorite of svelte celebrities — in trying it myself, I learned how complicated lymphatic drainage really is.

The Gente Beauty Lymphatic Drainage Effect cream retails for $34 and is receiving praise from A-list celebrities.

The product page boasts a cream that "eliminates water retention" and "provides softer and tighter skin sensation."

Hailey Bieber generated buzz when she posted the product to her Instagram story, raving that it “smells amazing, feels amazing” and claiming she is “obsessed” with the cream.

I decided to give the product a go, and while I wasn't blown away, I wouldn't throw it out either.

To give the product a fair shot, I decided to use it for seven days straight.

The side of the box contains a QR code which I followed to find a free demonstrative video of lymphatic drainage self-massage.

Each evening, before bed, I manually stimulated my lymph nodes, while carefully following the instructions.

Upon first impression, the fragrant product smelled heavenly. It reminded me of the old-school cult favorite from Victoria's Secret — Love Spell.

While I personally felt the smell is divine, it may be an issue for those who are sensitive to fragrances. I highly recommend doing a skin patch test before lathering up your entire body.

After seven days of using the product, I did not find a notable difference in bloating, however, I did find that my skin felt a lot smoother.

Admittedly feeling disappointed about the lack of results, I decided to consult a professional to get to the bottom of lymphatic drainage.

I caught up with Camila Perez, who founded MOVA by Camila Perez — a spa in New York City that offers lymphatic drainage services for the face and body.

Perez has been doing lymphatic massage professionally for 20 years and truly believes in its health benefits.

"The good thing about lymphatic drainage is that you can help people of so many different ages and a lot of different situations," she said. "I have patients recovering from post surgery, people recovering from cancer, I also have people just concerned about the cosmetics."

"But generally the average clientele is looking for wellness," she added. "The lymphatic drainage can definitely improve the blood and the lymph circulation which is a very good pathway in terms of health and how you look."

Perez said that while self-massage can be helpful, it is important to also see a professional lymphatic drainage massage therapist.

Perez herself makes sure to consult a professional such as a member of her team or her daughter Lais, who is following in her mother's footsteps.

"It's not the same experience when you do it at home," she said. "Of course there are benefits, yes, there is. So, I keep doing it myself every day after my shower. You will get to a level of consciousness about your lymphatic pathway."

"If you want to go post-surgery or during pregnancy, if you have like a cosmetic issue that you want to address — the professional will always be more effective."

I went ahead and tried the full-body lymphatic massage at MOVA by Camila Perez.

The spa is located in the swanky Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan and I immediately felt a sense of peace as soon as I walked in the door, where the spa played classic songs set to a relaxing Brazilian samba beat.

The staff offered me water before leading me to a serene private room. I changed out of my clothes and got situated on the heated massage table.

The hour-long full body massage utilizes Perez's carefully-curated products, which left me feeling silky smooth.

We finished off my massage with a cavitation machine, which is used to improve the skin texture from unsightly ailments such as cellulite.

Immediately following the massage, my results were way more dramatic than any result I got from using the Gente Beauty cream alone.

My final thoughts on the product are that it has improved the superficial texture of my skin, making me feel soft and smell divine.

I will continue to use the Gente Beauty Lymphatic Drainage Effect cream but will be sure to use it in conjunction with professional lymphatic massages.

While the product used as a stand-alone for self-massage did not blow me away, I do believe it could be a good sidekick to regular lymphatic drainage massages with a professional.
